In Alba Spectrum Group we care about our customers and we are trying to minimize
risks, related to GP implementation, customization, data conversion and
upgrade/version update. If you are migrating from non Microsoft ERP such as MAS 90,
Accpac, Quick Books, MYOB, Oracle Financials/EBS, please give us a call. When you
are planning to deploy GP 10.0 server, we recommend you to have at least 4 GB of RAM
memory to reassure the server performance. In some cases you may appeal to IDE
raids, in our opinion you should always stick to SCASI standard and raids model.
Let's take a look at installation process:
1. Microsoft Windows Domain. GP is relaying on MS Domains, such terms as Active
Directory users should be familiar to your IT group. Microsoft Dynamics GP Business
Portal is Active Directory dependent and it is Microsoft Sharepoint application,
meaning that you should have Sharepoint 3.0 services and/or Microsoft Office
Sharepoint 2007 installed and implemented
2. Microsoft Dynamics GP Business Portal 10.0. At this time BP is not supported for
Windows Server 64 bit version, Microsoft will try to review and address this issues
later in the fall of 2007, however us you probably get it - this is not guaranteed.
At this time, please do not build grandiose plans on x64 MS Sharepoint and GP
Business Portal
3. Microsoft Dexterity or former name Great Plains Dexterity. If you have Dex
customizations, or modified in Dexterity business logic, you should provide us with
DYNAMICS.DIC or Extract.Dic, your dex custom logic could be seen and estimated in
Dynamics.set and Dex.ini files
4. Data Conversion. If you plan to migrate from legacy MRP to GP, data conversion
plan should be analyzed and decided. We recommend you to enter just beginning
balances in GL, plus cards: customers, vendors, employees, GL accounts, prospects,
We don't recommend you to do full historical records migration. From licensing
standpoint if you plan to data migration - you will need GP Integration manager
migration module
